President Trump says Adam Schiff defrauded American public, calls for resignation

President Donald Trump has called for Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) to resign immediately, accusing the chairman of House Intelligence Committee of telling lies to Congress and attempting to defraud Americans.
In the first tweet regarding Schiff early on Friday, Sept. 27, President Trump said that Schiff “fraudulently read to Congress, with millions of people watching” a version of his phone call on July 25 with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “that doesn’t exist.”
President Trump then explained that Schiff was supposedly reading the exact transcribed version of the call, but he completely changed the words to make it sound horrible, and make the president sound guilty.
“HE WAS DESPERATE AND HE GOT CAUGHT. Adam Schiff therefore lied to Congress and attempted to defraud the American Public. He has been doing this for two years,” the president said.
“I am calling for him to immediately resign from Congress based on this fraud!” President Trump tweeted at 7:29 a.m. Friday.

President Trump was accusing Schiff of fraud after the House Intelligence Committee chairman a day earlier read what he described as a parody of the president’s call with the Ukrainian leader that is at the center of a whistleblower complaint, according to The Hill.
During a testimony with Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire on Thursday, Sept. 26, Schiff described President Trump as saying on the call that he would tell President Zelensky “seven times” to “make up dirt on my political opponent.”
Schiff later explained he was just summarizing what happened on the president’s July 25 call and that it was meant “to be, at least in part, parody.”
In another tweet Friday, President Trump reaffirmed that his conversation with Ukrainian president was “perfect” and “The Democrats are now to be known as the DO NOTHING PARTY!”
On Wednesday, the White House released a rough transcript of the callwith an authorization from President Trump, which did not showed the president abusing power or seeking help from a foreign government to undermine his political opponent as what Democrats had claimed.
After the transcript came to public, some top House Republicans also blasted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for her stance on impeachment against President Trump, saying she “owes an apology to this nation” and questioning if the speaker “should stay in her job.”
