‘The Five’ Explodes When Juan Williams Claims ‘It’s a Fact’ That Trump is Racist

A segment on the Fox News show ‘The Five’ went off the rails yesterday after liberal commentator Juan Williams claimed that “it’s a fact” that President Donald Trump is a racist.

The confrontation happened while the panel was discussing the second Democratic debate, which aired on CNN This Wednesday. Don Lemon, one of the debate’s moderators, asked the left-wing candidates matter-of-factly if the president is “stoking racism.”

On The Five, co-panelist Brian Kilmeade took issue with Lemon’s question, arguing that the moderator’s language was flagrantly bias and that Lemon should be disqualified as a moderator. Kilmeade wasn’t the first Fox News commentator to criticize Lemon that day; others slammed the moderator for asking questions “blatantly from the left".

Williams, the lone liberal on the panel, was quick to defend Lemon. He said, “Let me tell you, it’s a fact [that Trump is racist]. It’s a fact. It is a fact.”

Kilmeade shot back, “But he’s not!”

Co-panelist Greg Gutfeld then attempted to defend Trump while Williams continued stating the president is a racist.

As Williams carried on about how it’s a “fact” that Trump is a racist, Gutfeld shouted, “It’s an opinion! That’s an opinion! That’s an opinion, Juan!” Gutfeld then turned to the camera and said, “I can keep saying it, he won’t listen.”

Williams said, “Not only is it a fact, most Americans, 51% of Americans in a Quinnipiac poll…” Williams tried to make the argument that it’s a “fact” that Trump is racist because one poll found that a slight majority of Americans view the president as being racist. Williams continued, “They don’t say that about John McCain, Mitt Romney, Bob Dole, Jack Kemp. In fact, George Wallace, George Wallace, in ’68, was not viewed as a racist by most people.”

Gutfeld countered, “You just cited a poll as a fact!”

Williams responded, “If I’m the moderator, If I’m Don Lemon, and I say most Americans think [Trump] is a racist, you guys would say ‘That’s an opinion!” This is crazy!”

Gutfeld said, “Ok, we’re crazy. We’re crazy, because we know an opinion when we see one.”

Wednesday’s Democratic debates were seen as a win for Liz Warren and Joe Biden, but a big loss for Kamala Harris. Harris, who was coming in second in many polls, may see her favorability drop after the last round of debates during which she was effectively attacked by several of her opponents.
